Education and Background:

Lauree Murphy is founder and principal of Murphy Financial Planning.

Lauree holds a B.S. in business administration from Merrimack College in North Andover MA, an MBA from Santa Clara University and a Certificate in Personal Financial Planning from University of California, Irvine Extension.

Lauree is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, professional. The CFP® certification examination is an intense, two-day exam requiring comprehensive knowledge of insurance, taxes, investing, retirement planning, and estate planning.

Lauree is also an Enrolled Agent (EA). An Enrolled Agent is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Lauree earned her EA license by passing a comprehensive examination which covers all aspects of the tax code.

Prior to taking up tax and financial planning for individuals as a career, her work background was in accounting, financial planning, budgeting and analysis in the corporate world. Lauree spent over 20 years working in a variety of finance positions in both large and small companies. Along the way, she worked as controller in a couple of startup companies. This experience gave her insight into some of the problems small companies and small business owners face. Most recently, she spent 6 years in the horticulture business as cost accounting manager then operations controller.
